It doesn't have to be brick-and-mortar. Who needs all that overhead, plus the personnel headaches, inventory? Argh! Webstores are the answer, and I'm going to make this very, very easy for you.
One simple question: do you have items you'd like to sell, or do you want a store already fully stocked? Or perhaps both -- read on.
My EBay store at Lisstore combines 2 of my passions, real estate investment info & vintage costume jewelry collection. These are my hobbies, so rather than run closed-end auctions, I simply keep items in inventory and don't sweat listing costs, because I simply pay a nominal fee when something sells. I even offer an option to make me an offer on each item, for folks who love to haggle.
And, I have a store at FreeStore Club that came fully stocked with quality wholesale merchandise. They handle all inventory and shipping, EXCEPT for the optional items I have chosen to add to my store, namely more of my vintage jewelry and some used and collectible books. This site offers residual income potential as well, as others interested in having their own store sign up for stores. One very nice feature of these sites also is the ability to manipulate pricing, so you can run some tests to see what the market brings on seasonal items. Your own webstore can be obtained free of charge at Free Store, though residuals are really not feasible without upgrading to at least the next level.
With either store, the challenge is of course promotion, most of which I handle online with free traffic programs such as TrafficSwarm or Adland Pro; or high exposure at incredibly nominal cost like YouTube. Plus a fun way to promote any business is I.D. It Plates.
One sure thing: choose the type or types of stores you want to own, and you can be in business for yourself tonite!
